We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to learn and play jazz music.
We are determined to level the playing field in jazz education so that everyone has this opportunity, and we work towards this with the support of many individuals and organisations who believe in what we are trying to do. The benefits of a music-education are widely known, impacting self-expression, team-working, empathy, and creative thinking – important core skills which are the foundation of young people’s lives.
NYJO partners with organisations nationwide to deliver projects and programmes which help to make the artform more accessible with potential long-term positive effects. Individuals and organisations play a vital part in helping us to make this happen.
For example, as part of our Furthering Talent programme, £83 per month will support a regular two-year creative music making workshop for 25 children in challenging circumstances around the country. Or £1,000 provides free tuition to 6 students in financial need at the new NYJO Academy at Woolwich Works for one term.
