Harry Evans studied trumpet at the Trinity Laban Conservative of Music and Dance, graduating with First Class Honours in 2017. He grew up in rural Norfolk, where he was a member of Aldeburgh Young Musicians and participated in the National Youth Jazz Collective summer schools. He also plays the double bass, which he studied with Steve Watts at Trinity and performs with a variety of small groups in London.
Harry has been a member of NYJO since 2016 and has been honoured to participate in performances at the BBC Proms, The Barbican and the Three Nations Under One Groove tours. Outside of the band, he plays with the Alex Mendham Orchestra and the Sam Jewison Orchestra, as well as other big bands, cabaret acts and small groups.
He is considered to be a Traditional Jazz specialist on the London scene and is influenced by trumpeters including Bix Beiderbecke, Clark Terry, Kenny Dorham, Miles Davis, Freddie Hubbard, and Woody Shaw.
