Jack discovered jazz at the relatively late age of 16 – at Nick Weldon’s shoe factory in Rushden (Jazz School UK). After an intense voyage of discovery he now finds himself at the Guildhall School of Music, fortunate enough to have been tutored on double bass by Steve Watts, Geoff Gascoyne and Colin Paris (for classical) and Laurence Cottle and Robin Mullarkey for bass guitar.
Along the way he has played at various halls (Royal Albert, Royal Festival, Birmingham Symphony), the Barbican, Ronnie Scott’s and the Vortex as well as at the Montreux Jazz Festival, Palais des Invalides in Paris and on BBC Radio 3 (In Tune presented by Suzy Klein).
His musical tastes and influences are wide-ranging and he is involved in numerous projects ranging from contemporary classical to hip-hop.
The Bass Chair is supported by Art Mead.
