James is a Saxophonist, Composer and Bandleader based in Birmingham. He graduated from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire in July 2019 where he studied under the tutelage of highly respected Musicians and educators; Mike Williams, John O’Gallagher, Jean Toussaint, Andy Panayi and many more. He leads his own quartet and septet (J.A.R. Collective) and is also involved with many different projects in Birmingham.
He first picked up the Saxophone aged 10 and took lessons through school, later becoming a member of the Lincolnshire Youth Wind Orchestra, where he grew up. It was through this he gained inspiration to study Music further. His early Jazz influence included Paul Desmond, Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller and Louis Armstrong.
