Sarah started playing the horn at the age of 10, alongside violin and piano. She made her debut with NYJO at the Barbican Centre in a collaborative performance with Jazz at Lincoln Centre in 2016 and has been a member since February 2017. Sarah is currently studying for a Masters of Performance degree at the Royal College of Music, where she is an RCM Scholar supported by a Michael Quinn Award. Sarah graduated in June 2015 with an Upper Second Class Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music from St. Hilda’s College, University of Oxford, where she was a music scholar.
As a soloist Sarah has performed Mozart’s Horn Concerto No. 3 and Britten’s Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings. She has recently given recitals at the Jacqueline du Pre Music Building, Oxford, and for the Redbridge Music Society. Sarah has succeeded in several competitions including as a finalist of the Oxford Philomusica’s Youth Concerto Competition in 2013, and as the winner of Maidstone and Mid-Kent Young Musician of the Year in 2011. She has taken part in the LSO Brass Academy in 2016 and the Britten Pears Orchestra in 2017, and played with the RCM Symphony Orchestra, Oxford University Orchestra, and Kent County Youth Orchestra.
