NYJO Presents… Emma Rawicz
NYJO Presents… was built to showcase up and coming talent from across the UK jazz scene. A grassroots, bottom-up platform for plural creative voices at the start of their careers to express themselves live from the legendary Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club.
After an amazing run of livestream featuring the likes of Helena Debono, Rosie Frater-Taylor, Roella Oloro, Karen Shiraishi and Asha Parkinson we’re finally ready to host real live audiences for the very first time this year!
Emma Rawicz Quartet
Emma will be performing her original music with her quintet, with whom she will be recording her debut album later this month! Emma draws influence from a number of different musical genres creating a fusion of modern jazz, funk and folk music all deeply rooted in the jazz tradition. Emma’s compositions range from lilting afro-cuban inspired grooves to hard-hitting funk numbers.
Emma Rawicz is a saxophonist, vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and composer/arranger living in London and originally from North Devon. She gigs regularly at both London venues as well as all over the UK, and has played with a number of ensembles including NYJO’s big band and Jazz Exchange, Pyjæn, as well as members of Blue Lab Beats and Ezra Collective. Emma has regularly performed at the EFG London Jazz Festival with her own quartet as well as part of Orphy Robinson’s collective.
Named as one of the “5 UK Jazz Musicians you don’t want to miss” in Readers Digest, Emma is currently maintaining a career of live gigs, recording sessions and educational work alongside studying a degree in jazz at the Royal Academy of Music. Emma is currently in the process of writing and recording her debut album, which is set to be released in 2022; it will be entirely made up of Emma’s original music, drawing extensively on her love of modern jazz, funk and folk music.
