NYJO Jazz Jam with Tony Kofi

Our first monthly Jazz Jam of 2020 will be led by the one and only, award-winning multi-instrumentalist Tony Kofi. Come join us at the Foyles bookshop in Charing Cross for the amazing opportunity to listen to and jam with an eclectic musician and experienced educator.

Tony Kofi is a British Jazz multi-instrumentalist, a player of the alto saxophone, baritone saxophone, soprano saxophone and flute. Having ‘cut his teeth’ in the “Jazz Warriors” of the early 90’s, awardwinning saxophonist Tony Kofi has gone on to establish himself as a musician, teacher and composer of some authority. His fluent and fiery hard-bop alto playing is constantly in demand. He currently leads his own Tony Kofi Quartet, Tony Kofi’s Sphinx
Trio, Tony Kofi and the Organisation and is also the co-founder of the Monk Liberation Banda group in which plays the music of

These sessions are open to all under 18s—parents, passers-by and jazz fans are all welcome to stay and enjoy the music. Tony will kick-start the session with a set at midday, then the floor will open to all those who want to jam (piano and drums will be provided).
