Amy Winehouse: A Celebration of Her Life & Music | Royal Concert Hall, Nottingham

NYJO Celebrates Amy

NYJO alumna Amy Winehouse is undoubtably one of the greatest musical talents to come out of the UK. Her unmistakable character, vocal dexterity and masterful songwriting made her a pop icon. Her tragic passing makes her one of the most sorely missed artists in recent memory. Now, ten years on, her music still shines, undiminished, in all its defiant brilliance. This concert series celebrates Amy’s enduring legacy, reimagining hits and revisiting early works she sang with the 24-piece National Youth Jazz Orchestra as a promising 16-year-old singer, back in 2000. We aim to honour her life, and her work, with a performance that fans of big band jazz, and Amy obsessives will enjoy together.

Royal Concert Hall

Built in 1982 on the site of the old Empire Theatre, the Royal Concert Hall is highly regarded for its superb visual and acoustic design. Since then, the roll call of famous names to have performed on its stage ranges from world-renowned classical soloists and conductors, to a who’s who of the world’s biggest rock stars, pop bands and stand-up comedians. The unique acoustics of the 2,257-seat auditorium provide a warmth and clarity of sound much admired by orchestras and performers from across the globe.
