NYJO is delighted to announce that His Royal Highness The Earl of Wessex KG GCVO has agreed to become its Royal Patron. His Royal Highness and NYJO first met at the end of 2014 when NYJO performed at a charity engagement hosted by The Earl at Buckingham Palace in support of The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award.
Our ambitious plans are based on a desire to be an evangelist for jazz and young people and to have a greater role in the musical and cultural life of the nation – objectives which His Royal Highness is delighted to support.
NYJO’s Chairman, Nigel Tully says:
“It is a great honour for NYJO that His Royal Highness has chosen to become our Patron. It is also an important mark of recognition for jazz as a serious art-form in the UK. It is fantastic to have such an enthusiastic Royal Patron who supports NYJO’s mission.”
