Join The Hoste for a Summer Celebration of Wonderful Food and Swinging Jazz
An evening of luxurious dining and live world class jazz awaits guests at The Hoste in Burnham Market this summer as The Hoste of Jazz returns from 6:30pm between 19th June and 6th July 2014.
Following last year’s success and described by star performer Tina May as “The Hoste is an Oasis of Jazz”, this year’s highlights include internationally acclaimed pianist Keith Nichols, singer-pianist Chris Ingham fresh from a performance at Ronnie Scott’s in London, and traditional jazz band DixieMix.
Multi-talented saxophonist Alan Barnes and the National Youth Orchestra, one of Britain’s longest-running jazz ensembles for under-25s, complete the five-event line up.
More than just a swinging jazz concert performance , the two-part evening offers guests wonderful food from a delicious à la carte menu with fresh local produce including oysters and strawberries served in the Garden Room accompanied by some relaxing jazz prior to the main event.
John Billett, organiser of The Hoste of Jazz from JBGB Events says: “We want to showcase a range of jazz with something to suit all tastes and interests. Whether it’s Ragtime from the 1890’s, Swing from the 1930’s/40’s, the wonderful music of Hoagy Carmichael or tomorrow’s jazz greats today, The Hoste of Jazz will make the evening memorable for everyone and won’t disappoint.”
Brendan Hopkins, owner of The Hoste comments: “This won’t just be a night of music as we want visitors to make the most of their evening and enjoy a three course meal before the performances to please both their stomachs and their ears. The atmosphere will be truly electric.”
The Masters of RAGTIME, featuring Keith Nichols, begins the series on Thursday 19th June with the music of Scott Joplin with bright, lively sounds reflecting the ambitions of black American musicians in the late 1800s as they fought for emancipation from slavery. Keith focuses on old piano styles, regularly performing in London and New York.
Fresh new jazz talent can be heard on Sunday 22nd June with the Rob Luft Quartet from the National Youth Jazz Orchestra with the vocal talent of Emma Smith, recently voted young jazz musician of the year by the Worshipful Company of Musicians.
The DixieMix Band is the hottest traditional jazz band in the East of England performing in two-sets on Friday 27th June for a charity jazz supper in aid of The Norfolk Lady Taverners giving children, particularly those with special needs, a sporting chance. DixieMix will perform with Rod Stewart later this year.
The sentimental and sophisticated songs of Hoagy Carmichael will fill the Garden Room on Thursday 3rd July. Classic favourites such as Georgia On My Mind and Lazy Bones will be presented by Chris Ingham and his Quartet featuring Anita Wardell, winner of Best Vocalist at the UK Jazz Awards 2013.
The Summer Hoste of Jazz closes with swinging sounds and entertainment from Alan Barnes on Sunday 6th July, with his unique style of classics from the 30’s to the 70’s giving everyone a night to remember.
The Hoste of Jazz is supported by Kings Lynn Audi, Bang & Olufsen of Norwich and Goddards of Kings Lynn.
A charge for the jazz of £12 pp will be added to guests’ final dinner bill. The Lady Taverner’s event on Friday 27th June is a set menu single priced evening at £40 a ticket.
