NYJO2 participating in Jazz At Lincoln Center

We are delighted to be able to confirm that NYJO2 have been selected to participate in this year’s Jazz At Lincoln Center residency in London – the band will take part in the Essentially Ellington part of the programme. With Paul Eshelby directing, they’ll be studying two pieces by the Duke – the foremost orchestral composer in jazz – and another piece by a British composer, which will then be workshopped by a Jazz At Lincoln Center guest and Martin Hathaway, the Head of Jazz at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

Jazz At Lincoln Center’s purpose and mission is to:

  • enrich the artistic substance and perpetuate the democratic spirit of America’s music – with down-home and elegant concert performances by the Jazz At Lincoln Center Orchestra.
  • provide entertaining educational programmes that bring the sound and feeling of jazz into the lives of thousands of kids and grown-ups.
  • initiatate innovative collaborative programmes with artistes in diverse idioms.
  • offer top quality musicianship with universal friendship.
  • take the feeling of jazz on tour.
  • invite artistes and audiences from all over the world to come together – to have a profoundly good time…
