Last night saw the Yamaha Jazz Scholars 2014-2015 launch event , hosted by the All Party Parliamentary Jazz Appreciation Group at the House of Commons and in partnership with PPL. Seven scholars were announced who study at British conservatoires or universities and are nominated by their Heads of Jazz.

NYJO is pleased for all the new scholars but offers special congratulations to drummer Scott Chapman (NYJO member for six years until January 2014), trumpeter Tom Dennis (current NYJO member) and pianist Ashley Henry (NYJO authorised dep and former mentor to students of the NYJO Academy). It is fantastic to see such strong representation from the NYJO family!

The scholars will receive financial assistance, support and recording opportunities as they embark upon careers as professional jazz musicians. Here are Scott, Ashley and Tom at the Commons last night and in action later on.
