In an exciting development, the Musicians Benevolent Fund has agreed to support a partnership with NYJO during 2012-2013. The partnership funding will enable NYJO to offer travel bursaries to musicians living outside London so they can attend rehearsals and gigs and will also support a pilot regional residency at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama in Cardiff (RWCMD) in July 2013.

In a first for NYJO, the regional residency will see the entire band spend several days together outside of London, rehearsing, workshopping and gigging with RWCMD jazz students, as well as young talented musicians from schools and local jazz orchestras, to give them a taste of the NYJO ‘experience’.

NYJO is extremely grateful to the support offered by the Musicians Benevolent Fund and is looking forward immensely to building a long-term partnership to continue to make a difference to young, talented jazz musicians throughout the country.
