NYJO FREE IMPROVISATION PERFORMANCE

Members of NYJO and Urs Leimgruber present a performance of free improvisation.

Following workshops with Swiss composer and saxophone player Urs Leimgruber, NYJO players and Urs present a performance of free improvisation. Urs Leimgruber works throughout Europe and in London, working with groups such as the Arte Quartet and as the co-founder of the electric jazz group OM. He recently appeared at Cafe Oto as part of the London Jazz Festival. Urs and NYJO players will also be joined by Steve Beresford, the renowned composer and multi-instrumentalist who has also worked extensively in free music, with musicians Derek Bailey, Evan Parker and John Zorn. This is an exciting new departure for the players, and the experience is sure to deepen their understanding of music and improvisation as a whole as well as generate a colourful and interesting performance of entirely improvised new music.
