After a wonderful tour to Germany in September, last week saw our German friends, BuJazzO, visit the UK for the return leg of our project ‘Freedom & Friendship: A Century of Jazz’.
The visit included concerts at Leeds College of Music and the EFG London Jazz Festival as well as big band workshops at the Royal College of Music. The atmosphere at both gigs was electric, each finishing to cheers and standing ovations after a collective improvisation from the double-band of ‘When the Saints go marching in’ coming out of ‘Jumpin’ at the Woodside’. LondonJazz’s Sebastian Scotney covered the London gig and you can read his thoughts here. It’s been a fantastic and inspiring project for both bands and we hope to plan another project in the future!
