All of us at NYJO were sad to say goodbye to Jonathan Carvell at the end of May. After a year heading up our Development and Communications team and doing excellent work increasing our fundraising efforts, Jon was poached back by his previous employer Wigmore Hall to take up a position in their senior management team. However, Wigmore will have to wait a couple more weeks for him, as Jon took time out to marry his fiancé Helen last weekend, and is now on honeymoon. So congratulations to Jon; we wish him the very best in married life and his new role.
Stepping into Jon’s shoes is Debbie Forwood, who joins us having spent the past few years running her own jazz tourism company. Debbie trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama as a saxophonist, and began her career as a performer and educator before working for Serious (producers of the London Jazz Festival), Help Musicians, and Travel for the Arts. She says “This is an incredibly exciting time to by joining NYJO. The energy and forward momentum of the organisation at the moment is infectious, so I’m looking forward to getting stuck in to our upcoming projects and getting to know all of the NYJO family and friends in the coming weeks and months”
