Jazz FM has just announced its 2017 Awards nominations. The ceremony is due to take place on 25th April, which is fittingly the same day as Ella Fitzgerald would have turned 100!
Among the nominees are several NYJO alumni and associates. Both pianist Gwilym Simcock and saxophonist Tim Garland are up for ‘Instrumentalist of the Year’. Dinosaur, featuring Laura Jurd and Conor Chaplin, has been nominated for ‘UK Jazz Act of the Year’. And NYJO trustee and acclaimed vibraphonist Orphy Robinson has been nominated for ‘Live Experience of the Year’ for his performance of The Bobby Hutcherson Songbook at St James The Great, London. We wish all of them the best of luck!
