Maurice studied clarinet, saxophone and flute at London’s Royal College of Music in the late 60s/early70s while occupying a saxophone chair with NYJO. After graduating with honours and leaving the band, he established himself as a successful freelance musician, playing on television, radio, records and in West End theatres.
This experience led to Maurice being offered a full-time position in the orchestra for the original London production of Cats, which he held for a number of years.
During this time he developed a strong interest in the ‘behind the scenes’ management/workings of London’s West End productions and, to further expand on this, he formed Accord Music. The extensive experience, knowledge and understanding of the London music scene that Maurice has since acquired has firmly established Accord Music as one of London’s leading orchestral management companies.
Accord Music has handled the orchestral management of over fifty West End orchestras and has also provided management and supervision on over thirty record albums and numerous television programmes, ranging from The Royal Variety Performance, the Laurence Olivier and BAFTA Awards to Casualty and Top of the Pops.
Maurice has more recently provided orchestras for The Phantom of the Opera, Mamma Mia! (both the West End and the international tour), Wicked (both the West End and the UK tour), the Jersey Boys and the Book of Mormon.
