Jon Stokes

Jon began playing the trombone at the age of 11 and became fascinated by big bands.

He was subjected to old tapes of Glenn Miller and Tommy Dorsey and whenever Syd Lawrence or the BBC Big Band were on at the Cheltenham Town Hall he would be there, in the front row.

Despite the slightly odd taste in music for a teenager he managed to get through school unscathed and moved to London where he had dreams of becoming the next Principle Trombone of the LSO.
