Earlier this morning, NYJO horns and Jamie Cullum stopped commuters at St Pancras station in their tracks, playing tracks from his new album, Momentum, which is realised today. Jamie said: “I thrive on the live performance, the spontaneous vibe. This kind of thing suits me well. We hadn’t rehearsed with the orchestra at all — but they are a crack team of musicians. We hope we sent travellers on with a song in their hearts.” The London Evening Standard covered the pop-up gig and it was also filmed for ITN London Tonight. A short video can be seen here.
It continues a frenetic but hugely successful few days for NYJO following workshops in Canterbury, a NYJO Nonet gig at the Newbury Spring Festival and NYJO working with 100 young musicians from Surrey Music Hub at the fantastic G-Live Centre in Guildford.
