James Hudson – Vocals

James is originally from the East Riding of Yorkshire where he attended the Northern Academy of Performing Arts and Northern Theatre Company, training in Singing and Acting. Classically trained from the age of 15, James originally found his passion for singing in Musical Theatre, performing lead roles in Les Misérables, Little Shop of Horrors and Evita before developing his interest in Jazz.

 James went on to study at the University of Warwick under the ‘Vocal Music Scholarship’, graduating in 2014. Here he took an active role in the arts scene, featuring as the lead vocalist for the University of Warwick Big Band and performing in many productions at the Warwick Arts Centre with Music Theatre Warwick. He then went on to study the ‘Advanced Jazz Singing’ course at The Leeds College of Music.

 He is currently working as a freelance vocalist with various bands and orchestras across the UK and Europe, including the The Tom Sharp Jazz Orchestra, Jazz Infinity Orchestra, Hull Big Band, The London Musical Theatre Orchestra and his own jazz band. James also fronts 7-peice band The Jive, an in demand international band who perform across Europe and on cruise ships to crowds of 2000+ on tour.

 James is a versatile singer, working with bands who play a range of different musical styles including Jazz, Latin, Soul, Pop and more. James has performed at some of the most exclusive venues in the country including The Great Room (Grosvenor House), Guildhall London, Royal Armouries Leeds and Hengrave Hall. With NYJO, James has performed at the Swansea International Jazz Festival, Newbury Corn Exchange and the Guildford International Music festival among others.
