In 2014, NYJO and its German equivalent (BuJazzO) created a partnership project with joint rehearsals and concerts in both countries.
Following the successes of the 2014 collaboration, the Dutch National Youth Jazz Orchestra (NJJO) asked to join an enhanced repeat project, which will begin in autumn 2016.
All three orchestras have a maximum age of 25 and consist largely of conservatoire graduates or senior students; the artistic standard is extremely high.
For NYJO’s previous collaboration with BuJazzO, we received sponsorship from BP. However, this funding cannot be repeated this year because of the change in the price of oil… and Brexit hasn’t helped!
This project brings the best young European jazz musicians together, promoting the twin spirits of learning and cultural exchange. Our musicians told us that the 2014 project was the single most valuable experience we gave them that year. We’re confident this year will be even better!
