Georgina Bromilow (now Jackson)

Georgina Bromilow (now Jackson)Georgina hails from Wigan and grew up with an unfashionable obsession with Jazz and Big Band music from an early age. After beginning her career in the brass section of the Wigan Youth Jazz Orchestra, Georgina graduated to NYJO in the mid-90s, playing lead trumpet.

Harbouring a desire to wear a posh frock rather be a shrinking violet at the back of the band, Georgina decided she wanted to be on front mike. On leaving NYJO in 1996, she set up her own Big Band as the first step to fulfilling her frock and singing ambitions.

Georgina recorded and released her first CD – ‘Til There Was You – and, with support from Jazz FM (CD of the week) and Sir Michael Parkinson, it climbed to the dizzy heights of number 8 in the HMV jazz charts. This critical success led her to landing her dream job as resident singer with the Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Orchestra, where she performs most months.

Her long-awaited second album – Watch What Happens – recorded at Abbey Road studios, was released in June 2012. The featured single Change Partners got to number 1 in the i-tunes Jazz Chart and the album got into the top 5.
