Back in August a group of NYJO musicians, ambassadors and young educators travelled to the Kent coast to help create some brand-new online content for Deal Music & Arts Creative Jazz Weekend. This fantastic online event will commence tonight, running through to Sunday afternoon.
For the past four years, we have loved working with Deal Music & Arts as part of our Learning & Participation programme. In many cases DMA is the sole provider of arts learning to those is the surrounding area. It’s important to us that we find national partners that clearly care about keeping music alive in their local community, and with the DMA team we’ve done just that.
The event has been curated by Joe Browne, project leader of Deal Music & Arts Jazz Journey and NYJO Associate Educator. The event celebrates the launch of DMA hosting the NYJO Academy South East at Goodwin Academy from September 2021, which will offer young musicians of varying levels the opportunity to focus on all aspects of jazz.
NYJO Ambassadors will be on hand at 6.00pm on Saturday on a special live Webinar where they will answer questions about what it is like to be involved in a NYJO Academy as well as being a professional jazz musician.
