We’ve pinched a great headline here from the Bury Free Press newspaper which this week featured the work NYJO associate Pete Letanka has been doing with pupils from two primary schools in Suffolk. In a pilot initiative, Pete has led four workshops teaching jazz tunes, encouraging pupils to improvise, compose and to try a variety of instruments.  The pupils were joined by NYJO members for in-school concerts leading-up to performing on stage with NYJO at its gig at The Apex, Bury St Edmunds on Sunday 29 September.

Anna Richards, headteacher at Ixworth Primary said: “The children have worked incredibly hard and gained a huge amount of confidence.” The project continues the work NYJO is developing with Music Hubs around the country. For further information contact the NYJO office on 020 7494 1733.
