Stage 1: Application and Examples of Writing

Please provide two examples of your writing (arrangements and/or original compositions) as PDFs or Sibelius files, and links to audio/video performances if they exist. Shortlisted candidates’ work will be reviewed by a panel.

  1. Complete the NYJO 2020 Application Form
  2. Complete the Equal Opportunities Monitoring Form
  3. Email your two forms (saved as Word or PDF files only), two examples of your writing (saved as pdf or silbelius files), and links to any audio/video performances of your work if they exist to Orchestra Manager Roger Wilson at: by 10am Monday 21 October


Stage 2: Interview

Final-stage candidates will be invited to an interview with Mark Armstrong and Roger Wilson at a mutually convenient date to discuss their work, their experience and aspirations.

The successful composer will be offered a one-year tenure in the orchestra with a bursary of £1125 plus £100 per new delivered chart. In return for the bursary they will be expected to contribute to copying and re-orchestration work to help maintain the NYJO library.
