Rob Greenwood

Rob was born and raised in Clitheroe, Lancashire. He is the youngest of 3 brothers, all of which studied music to a higher education level. Rob started playing the trumpet when he was 10 years old; and by this time living in Nottingham, he joined the local music services and started private lessons.
In 2004 Rob was accepted into Trinity College of Music on a full scholarship. Whilst at Trinity he was awarded the Ronnie Verrell Big Band prize (the 1st non-drummer to be considered) and was also the recipient of the Philip Jones Brass prize. His tutors at Trinity included; Chris Batchelor, Mike Lovatt, Andy Hendrie, Oren Marshall, Paul Bartholomew, Mark Lockheart and Martin Speake amongst others.
Rob joined NYJO in Nov 2009 after many years being on the dep list. Rob first played with the band in 2005 when he accompanied them on their tour to Jersey, at which time his eldest brother Paul, was the regular flautist and saxophonist.
Since graduating from Trinity in summer 2009 Rob has been starting his career as a self employed musician in London. As well as performing regularly in the UK Rob also arranges for a wide variety of musical genres; he has recently been scoring for 4 part brass sections and also a Big Band with Strings at the Southbank Centre.
