Felix Higginbottom – Percussion

May 25, 2012 by Steve

Felix played his first NYJO gig at the age of 14 under the watchful eye of Bill Ashton. Born into a musical Oxford family, Felix began his life as a chorister and cellist. However, a teenage rebellion soon shifted his gaze where he was fortunate enough to study with vibraphone legend Alan Graham and session-percussionist Keith Fairbairn, both of whom had affiliations with NYJO.

Moving to London Felix received tuition at the Royal Academy of Music whilst attending King’s College London. His broad musical upbringing means he can be found playing anything from Baroque Timpani to Shekere. In recent years Felix has played with major artists such a Dan Zanes and TEED, as well as for film sessions and shows.

Listening to NYJO clips online. Amazed by the partnership between percussionist and drummer, very cool and mature playing. Hope to see more of them in years to come!
