Ross, originally from Reading, has been playing the trombone since the age of seven. Starting with the Berkshire Young Musicians Trust, (now Berkshire Maestros) he played in small groups, through to large wind bands, brass bands, jazz bands and orchestras. He was a long standing member with both the Berkshire Youth Wind Orchestra and the Berkshire Youth Orchestra before completing his school studies and moving to London.

Ross is originally from Chislehurst, Kent and started playing the trombone at the age of seven. He progressed through the Bromley Youth Music Trust playing in various ensembles ranging from brass quintets to symphony orchestras. In 2003, Ross joined the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain where he switched to Bass Trombone.

Matthew was born aged 0 in York and began playing the trombone aged 11. After a few years learning through the local music service he became lead trombone in the County Big Band aged 16 and was already working with various local bands.

Callum started playing classical piano aged 6, but took up the trombone anyway. Under the direction of Terry Reaney, he was soon playing with many local youth jazz bands including the Lancashire Youth Jazz Orchestra.

Barry is from Welwyn Garden City in Hertfordshire. He is currently studying bass trombone with Dave Stewart at the Royal College of Music.

I've been attending NYJO for the last 2 and a half years now and in the last year I have moved up from NYJO2 to the main NYJO group.
