Helen Wilson – Flute

Henry Armburg-Jennings

James Larter

James started playing percussion at the age of 11 at the Royal College Junior Department and has played with county ensembles such as the Northamptonshire Youth Concert Band and Zingaresque: a world music group. He also plays for National Youth Wind Ensemble and is a reserve for the National Youth Orchestra. He took part in the LSO St. Lukes Academy 2009 and was in the percussion final of BBC Young Musician of the Year 2010. He also plays drum kit, violin and piano and is currently studying for his GCSE’s.

Jon Stokes

I began playing the trombone at the age of 11 and became fascinated by big bands. I was subjected to old tapes of Glenn Miller and Tommy Dorsey and whenever Syd lawrence or the BBC Big Band were on at the Cheltenham town hall you would be sure to see me there in the front row. Despite the slightly odd taste in music for a teenager I managed to get through school unscathed and moved to London where I had dreams of becoming the next Principle Trombone of the LSO.

Laura Jurd

Laura loves playing, listening to, writing and creating music. Influenced by a huge range of music including jazz, classical and folk etc. A strong interest in contemporary classical music and improvisation, influences include; Igor Stravinsky, Miles Davis, Alban Berg, Enrico Rava, Olivier Messiaen, Michael Tippett to name a few. Currently studying jazz and composition at Trinity College of Music.

Lauren Derwent

Lauren is a prolific song writer, vocalist, pianist and percussionist.

Lauren held the vocal and percussion chair with NYJO from 2003-2005, and in 2009 she signed an exclusive song writer’s agreement with Toolroom Publishing. Her compositions are catchy and thought provoking, and her lyrics address character development, morals, and raise social issues.
