Felix Higginbottom

A young up-and-coming musician with an uncommonly strong background in a broad range of music (also playing the cello, bass guitar, piano, and singing). In 2007 He won the young musicians equipment bursary. After Studying with Keith Fairbairn (first call London percussionist) and Alan Graham (vibraphone legend), Felix moved on to KCL and RAM to study a music degree. Having a very musical ear allows him to sit within a group, listening and communicating with the other musicians whilst remaining \’tight\’. Felix regularly performs in public and profits from his ability as a proficient sight-reader, chart-reader, playing from memory and to a click track.

My parents shared their love of Big Band music with my older brother and I from an early age, and I was hooked on recordings of Stan Kenton,Woody Herman and Jimmy Dorsey. Presented with the opportunity to learn the clarinet aged 9, I applied myself to the classical charts.

Helen Wilson

Helen Wilson plays the flute and aged 12 took up a place at Chethams School of Music, Manchester, where she studied with Gitte Sorenson, Linda Verrier, and Richard Davis. She then accepted a scholarship to study at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM), Manchester in 2007 to carry on her studies with Richard and now learns with Anders Ljungar Chapelon on an exchange programme at the Malmo Academy of Music in Sweden.
